This quaint holiday getaway is ideal for those who wish to experience lush greenery with a picturesque view of the Irish sea. Despite its laid back appearance, St.Bees is a village where you can enjoy plenty of sports activities. There are many community facilities that are open to the public, and the famous cliffs and shores of this "Site of Special Scientific Interest" host a variety of water sports.
Rugby games draw in the biggest crowds in St. Bees. You can join the residents in rooting for the school team when they have a match at the St. Bees School field. But this is not the only sport that the locals take interest in. There is a 9-hole course for those who want to test out their golfing skills while enjoying a magnificent seaside view. The St. Bees School also opens its tennis, squash, and badminton courts to anyone, but you have to first check with the availability since they are also being used by the students and staff.
For the outdoor enthusiasts, there is a choice of going on jet skis, sail boats, and canoes to test the waters. You might even want to discover the breathtaking Fleswick Bay, which cannot be accessed by roads. St. Bees also gets a good set of drafts making its beaches ideal for wind surfing for those who want to have an exciting ride. If you want to experience more of an adrenaline rush, then you can go paragliding from one of the two famous cliffs.
